Arie Hoogerbrugge is an adventure seeker, seeking his adventures through expedition biking and the jungles of Belize, Central America. Arie accomplished a 6,500 km bike ride through Northern and Western Canada in 2011. He has been traveling to the jungles of Belize since 1997 and has owned a house in the middle of the Community Baboon Sanctuary since 2002.
Arie's past career was a self employed business owner in the reptile industry. He ran a wholesale company that supplied close to 100 other pet stores in the Ontario area and during that time built and owned his own reptile store that sold reptiles as pets and provided educational reptile shows to kids. He was part of this very interesting and exciting industry from 1995 to 2008 and at one point employed 13 people.
Arie's newest adventure combines his excitement of expedition cycling and his passion for a greener planet. Arie's plan is to bicycle just over 50,000km's across Canada and then from the Canadian Arctic to the bottom of Argentina, through 24 different countries in North, Central and South America in just under 36 months. His hope is to promote tree planting and greener planet for all to enjoy with as many people possible via social media, blogs, photos and video.
